Representation trees and string-tree correspondences

چکیده
The correspondence between a string of a language and its abstract representation, usually a (decorated) tree, is not straightforward. However, it is desirable to maintain it, for example to build structured editors for texts written in natural language. As such correspondences must be compositional, we call them "Structured String-Tree Correspondences" (SSTC). We argue that a SSTC is in fact composed of two interrelated correspondences, one between nodes and substrings, and the other between subtrees and substrings, the substrings being possibly discontinuous in both cases. We then proceed to show how to define a SSTC with a Structural Correspondence Static Grammar (SCSG), and which constraints to put on the rules of the SCSG to get a "natural" SSTC.

A New Algorithm for Optimization of Fuzzy Decision Tree in Data Mining
Decision-tree algorithms provide one of the most popular methodologies for symbolic knowledge acquisition. The resulting knowledge, a symbolic decision tree along with a simple inference mechanism, has been praised for comprehensibility. The most comprehensible decision trees have been designed for perfect symbolic data. Classical crisp decision trees (DT) are widely applied to classification t...
متن کاملOn Probability Distributions for Trees: Representations, Inference and Learning
We study probability distributions over free algebras of trees. Probability distributions can be seen as particular (formal power) tree series [BR82; EK03], i.e. mappings from trees to a semiring K. A widely studied class of tree series is the class of rational (or recognizable) tree series which can be defined either in an algebraic way or by means of multiplicity tree automata. We argue that ...
متن کاملTree Diagrams for String Links
In previous work [7], the author defined the intersection graph of a chord diagram associated with a string link (as in the theory of finite type invariants). In this paper, we classify the trees which can be obtained as intersection graphs of string link diagrams.
متن کاملPerformance Comparison of Function Evaluation Methods
We perform a comparison of the performance and efficiency of four different function evaluation methods: black-box functions, binary trees, n-ary trees and string parsing. The test consists in evaluating 8 different functions of two variables x, y over 5000 floating point values of the pair (x, y). The outcome of the test indicates that the n-ary tree representation of algebraic expressions is ...
متن کاملMaking Finite-State Methods Applicable to Languages Beyond Context-Freeness via Multi-dimensional Trees
We provide a new term-like representation for multi-dimensional trees as defined by Rogers [8,9] which establishes them as a direct generalization of classical trees. As a consequence these structures can be used as input for finite-state applications based on classical tree language theory. Via the correspondence between string and tree languages these applications can then be conceived to be ...
